Newspaper Article Writing - How to Write Newspaper Articles

Writing a newspaper article can get relatively easy if you can just picture a triangle in your mind. This simply means, you need to use the inverted pyramid technique at all time.

Here's how you can easily write newspaper articles:

Writing Articles

1. Headline. This is where you tell your target readers what your article is all about. In here, you should be able to capture the attention of your readers while you tell them what's in it for them. It must be short, punchy, and it must be very descriptive.

2. Byline. This tells the readers who wrote the story.

3. First paragraph. This is often called lead paragraph in newspaper article writing. This must contain all the why, how, where, when, who, and what elements of your story. It's important that your readers understand your article by simply reading your first paragraph. This is because research and studies show that a huge percentage of people reading newspapers do not read articles in their entirety.

4. Offer further explanations. In your succeeding paragraphs, you will need to give your readers supporting details that will help them better understand your story. You can include quotes from people who are considered authorities on your chosen story. For example, if you are writing about a murder, you would want to get statements coming from the police and witnesses. These can make your articles sound stronger and more catchy.

5. Include additional information. This is optional. If you are writing about a one-time event, you don't need to include additional information. However, if there were related stories written in the past, you will need to give your readers some background information.

Article Writing - Write the Conclusion to the Article

Once you have written the body of the article, you can write a conclusion. For me, I like to write a conclusion that simply sums up the purpose, points, or message of the article, and gives the reader a reason to click into my link in the bio.

For example, in the list building article example, my conclusion might look like this:

Traffic Building

As you can see, effective list building using articles as the initial point of contact can be extremely easy to do, as long as you follow specific steps. As you are list building, always keep in mind your long term purpose in list building. Sometimes it is easy to get hung up on the concept of adding subscribers to your list, but lost sight of the big picture, that those subscribers actually have a purpose on your list.

In the time management article example, it might read like this:

As you can see, time management is one of those productive tasks that you really can achieve with a little effort and determination. I encourage you to incorporate each one of these steps into your daily schedule, and I truly believe you will find an increased level of productivity in your own life, as you free up at least 2 hours of productive time every day.

The bottom line, is you need to write a closing paragraph that leads the reader to the bio, so that they are ready to click by the time they get to your bio.
